National Stadium Bukit Jalil to Become Sustainability Hub with New EV Charging Hub Deployment by Sime Motors and PSM

Sime Motors and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia (PSM) have teamed up to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers at National Stadium Bukit Jalil. This collaboration will create a new EV charging hub at the stadium.

Bukit Jalil's National Stadium will soon have an EV charging hub that will include both DC and AC chargers

Currently, specific information about the upcoming EV charging hub at National Stadium Bukit Jalil is still being worked out. Therefore, the exact quantity of chargers, power capacity, operator of the charging points, and other relevant details about the new hub are still uncertain.

Jeffery Gan, the Managing Director of Southeast Asia for Sime Motors, mentioned that the hub will initially have a DC charger and multiple AC chargers. He also stated that Sime Motors is willing to add more chargers in the future if there is a notable rise in the adoption and use of electric vehicles.

Jeffrey mentioned that PSM will provide guidance to Sime Motors on where to place the new hub. They aim to ensure that the hub is not only easy to reach but also clearly visible to users looking to charge their electric vehicles at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil.

PSM intends to transform the National Stadium Bukit Jalil into a center focused on sustainability.

During his opening speech, PSM's CEO, Illiyas Jamil, announced that electric vehicle charging stations will be placed across the stadium premises. This suggests that there could be several EV charging areas within the expansive KL Sports City complex.

In collaboration with Sime Motors, PSM will be incorporating electric vehicles into its stadium operations. Sime Motors will supply two electric vehicles to be used as official vehicles by PSM for the next two years.

Illiyas mentioned that PSM aims to transform the National Stadium Bukit Jalil into a center for sustainability, allowing visitors to see the advantages of living a more environmentally friendly life. The organization is also currently exploring the possibility of implementing solar energy systems soon.

This weekend, Sime Motors AutoArena will be held at the National Stadium.

National Stadium Bukit Jalil has been the location for many Sime Motors events in the past, such as the unveiling of the BYD Seal Dynamic and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N preview. However, this weekend's AutoArena is the first event that is a result of a strong partnership between the two parties. It is essential to have collaboration between them in order to host an automotive event inside the National Stadium Bukit Jalil.

Different electric vehicle brands from Sime Motors such as BMW, BMW Motorrad, BYD, Hyundai, Jaguar, and Volvo are participating in the event. Additionally, there will be a selection of pre-owned EVs from Auto Selection available. The Sime Motors AutoArena event is taking place from today until Sunday, January 12th.
