MyBorderPass QR: Revolutionizing Immigration Clearance at KLIA with Lightning Speed

Want to speed up the immigration process at KLIA when traveling abroad? Malaysians now have the option to use the MyBorderPass QR system to clear immigration faster. With this new system, the time it takes to pass through the auto gates can be reduced from 15-25 seconds to just 5 seconds. The convenience of this system is that you no longer need to present your passport during the immigration clearance process.

Currently, there are 40 MyBorderPass lanes available at KLIA, operated by the Immigration Department. Before your next trip in or out of Malaysia, it is important to understand all the necessary information, including how to install MyBorderPass on your mobile device.

Setting up the MyBorderPass app for immigration clearance is easy and only requires a smartphone and physical passport. Follow these simple instructions:

The field for vehicle plate number is used for land border crossing purposes. The MyBorderPass app was introduced last year to help expedite the immigration clearance process at the Johor-Singapore border through the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (BSI) complex.

In order to protect your MyBorderPass app, you must create a 4-digit PIN. This PIN is necessary for security reasons and must be entered each time you open the app. Additionally, the QR code on the app will update automatically every minute for added security.

If you have recently renewed your passport, you have the option to update it using the MyBorderPass app. Simply use the "Update Passport" feature and scan the new passport details page to make the necessary updates.

What is the process for using the MyBorder Pass QR code? The Immigration Department has designated 40 lanes specifically for Malaysians to use. Half of these lanes are located at KLIA Terminal 1 and the other half are located at KLIA Terminal 2.

If you have the MyBorderPass app on your phone and have your QR code ready, simply approach the lane and scan the QR code at the entrance. The gates will open once the code is scanned, allowing you to then scan your face as the final step. After your identity is verified, the second gate will open and you can continue on your journey.

If you are unable to go through immigration at the MyBorderPass gate, you can go to the manual immigration counters that are still open for use.

Additional information to note about MyBorderPass includes the fact that while the MyBorderPass QR code can be used in place of presenting your passport for immigration clearance, it is still necessary for all international travelers to have their physical passports on hand. The main goal of the MyBorderPass QR system is to expedite the clearance process, but a valid passport remains a mandatory requirement for crossing borders.

The MyBorderPass QR system is not required for clearing immigration at KLIA. You can still use the existing automatic gates and manual immigration counters when entering or leaving Malaysia.

Currently, the MyBorderPass QR system can only be used by one person on each phone. If you are traveling with your family, there is no feature available to include other family members or their passports in the system.

The MyDigital ID feature is not available in the app currently, but it is mentioned that it will be available soon. If you want to switch to a new phone, simply download the app on the new device and click on the option to change to a new device. You will need to input your IC, date of birth, passport number, and passport expiry date in order to login with your information.
