ChargEV Revolutionizes EV Charging with Malaysia’s First Electric Truck-Ready Hub at Tangkak, Johor: A Game-Changer for Commercial EVs

ChargEV has installed Malaysia's first electric truck charging station at Tangkak, Johor, featuring a 400kW DC Charger with 8 bays. This new charging hub by ChargEV is one of the biggest along the North South Expressway in Johor, serving as a convenient stop for EV drivers commuting between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Additionally, the hub is equipped to cater to electric commercial trucks as well.

We were able to get a sneak peek of the charging hub before it opens to the public, and here is what they have available at the location.

The ChargEV EV charging hub can be found at Tangkak Pitstop, just under a kilometer from the Tangkak Toll Plaza. It is easily accessible from both the northbound and southbound traffic. At this location, ChargEV has installed a Kempower DC charging solution with dynamic load balancing. There are currently 8 charging bays available, with the possibility of adding more DC charging points in the future as demand grows.

This particular EV charging site is unique because it is specifically designed for commercial and electric trucks that travel between KL and Singapore. In addition to charging stations, Tangkak Pitstop also offers a food court, prayer room, and restroom that are managed by Majlis Daerah Tangkak.

Currently, the EV charging station is not available for public use. When it is up and running, the DC chargers will cost RM1.60 per kilowatt-hour. Customers who have signed up for ChargEV's annual membership plan will receive a 50% discount on charging fees.

The ChargEV Charging Hub in Tangkak provides a good option for electric vehicle charging, serving as an alternative to the Gentari EV Charging Hub at Petronas Bandar Baru Ayer Hitam in Johor. Both hubs are conveniently situated near the North South Expressway.

If you didn't see it, ChargEV and eLoaded are teaming up to install a network of DC charging hubs. One of the new sites for EV charging will be at Elmina Lakeside Mall, where there will be 16 DC charging points available.
