ChargEV has installed 16 DC Charge points at Elmina Lakeside Mall using the eLoaded DC Grid System. In addition to their planned electric lorry charging hub in Tangkak Johor, ChargEV has established a large EV charging hub at Elmina Lakeside Mall.
ChargEV has set up a large DC charging hub in Malaysia with a total of 16 DC charge points, making it one of the biggest in the country. The new location uses eLoaded's DC Grid technology for efficient power management, similar to Sortimo Innovations Park in Germany.
ChargEV has installed two groups of chargers with 8 DC charging points each in Parking Zone A and Parking Zone B. These chargers are currently operational as a part of their testing phase, and can be accessed by users through the ChargEV app.
Currently, the DC charging stations are charging RM1.60 per kWh. Yesterday, we were able to charge our EV with 65kW while there were approximately 6 other electric vehicles also charging. The price for charging during the trial period is expensive, and we were able to charge our vehicle from 25% to 80% for around RM59.
It is expected that ChargEV will provide consumers with different pricing options based on the speed and length of charging needed. This way, users can choose whether they need a quick 15-minute charge while running errands or a longer hour charge while dining out.
The unique aspect of this DC charging site is that the eLoaded DC Grid system begins charging at a low rate of less than 5kW even before you start using the charger. This feature allows consumers to check if the charging point is functioning properly before they activate it to access full power.
As per the information from the ChargEV app, the charging process will begin with a trickle charge lasting for 5 minutes. If you do not initiate the charging process, the trickle charge will cease on its own and you can then disconnect the charger.
A distinctive aspect of this charging station is the slim eLiix DC nozzles, which are currently the smallest high-powered DC charging stations available. These nozzles are individual flexible satellite terminals that are connected to an eLoaded power cabinet. Each terminal takes up approximately 10×10 cm of ground space and has indicator lights on top to show the charging status.
ChargEV is expanding their network of EV charging stations with this new solution, and they have recently installed a large number of charging sites at Johor Premium Outlets in Johor.
